Be prepared for the unexpected

Today I want to share with you a couple of stories. One of which is a real life situation and then the other is in the World of Warcraft. I'll start with the Real life situation and then go to the WoW story. There once was a missionary who went to Wal-Mart one day to go buy some things. Well as the two Elders (Elders is a title meaning teacher, which is a shorter name for missionaries.) Anyways as the two elders were going up to the counter to pay for the items. elder B swiped his card and then heard this beeeeeeeeeeeepppppppppppppp. With a shocked look elder B swipes the card again and tried entering in a pin number, when he entered in the pin he heard this beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeppppppppppppp. Well what happened? elder B asked, elder F said "well elder looks like you ran out of money." With that Said elder B went to a back up card and was able to pay for his things. Now I want to share a WoW story with you. When I was playing on my Holy Paladin I was running around one day looking for something to do...
I came across a fellow player who was looking for someone to help him on his quest. So as I helped him out with his quest's and what not he said that for some reason his quest was not showing up as completed. So I asked him to link his quest to me so that way I could read it and get a better understanding of what we were supposed to be doing.... When I read the quest log I slapped my forehead and said to myself, what a noob! As you can guess this guy did not fully read his quest log and left the item that he needed in the bank, by doing that he could not complete the quest and was unprepared.

Now what was the difference between the two stories? As you can already guess elder B had a back up plan and was able to pay for his items that he needed, unlike this player in World of Warcraft who was not prepared and was unable to finish the quest. In today's world there are many people who are not prepared for the unexpected things in life, too many times I have seen a lot of people who are not prepared for anything, whether it is a natural disaster, work, school,etc... I want to show an example of people who were not prepared and paid the consequence for their choice. In Genesis there is a prophet by the name of Noah and Noah was commanded by God to build an ark because of the wickedness of the people, at the same time Noah was to preach the Gospel to the people and give them a chance to repent and come aboard the ark when the floods came.  (In the picture Noah is crying repentance while building the ark.)
Now we all know the story well, Noah is rejected by the people and is called crazy. and we know that the flood does indeed come and it wipes out everyone that did not listen to the prophet Noah. (There were only 8 survivors after the flood happen, Noah and his family.) Now today we do not have to worry about a huge flood coming and wiping out the entire earth, but we do have to worry about quite a bit more then that. Today we have earthquakes, fires, floods, wars, famine, and many more. The one thing that we have been counselled on as members of the church is to have a two year food stoarge incase there is a major disaster that happens. My friends I know that this may seem like its a silly topic to talk about but I believe that we need to be prepared for anything that comes our way, because if we do not have a back up plan at all we will not be ready for the unexpected, also we need to be ready for anything that can happen to us spiritually as well. I hope and pray that we will all be ready for the unexpected things in life.

  1. Boy scout motto is "be prepared." I learned that the hard way leaving work one day.
I worked at an indoor swimming pool in Utah. It was December and I decided to wear flip flops to work. No snow on the ground or clouds in the sky, should be okay right? Well, I had some extremely frozen toes when I left work that day.
Our spiritual preparation can protect us from the "frozen toes" that happen when we least expect.
