As you come to the character creation screen in World of Warcraft you are presented with a few options. Here you chose the race, class, and features of your character. By now you probably know what class it is you want to play, and what race either looks the coolest, or has the best racials. But now you have to chose its name, knowing that your character (and thus you) will be known by it throughout all your adventures in Azeroth. Similarly when you were named, your parents probably put a good amount of thought into your name. Thus we can see the importance of a name.

A lot of people know The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints as the Mormons. The nickname Mormon stems from our belief in The Book of Mormon, which is another testament (witness) of our Lord, Jesus Christ. I don't take offense to being called a Mormon, and most of the time its easy to clarify who we are by saying we are Mormons, but the real name of the Church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
In the Book of Mormon, Christ visits a group of people living on the American continent known as the Nephites. He teaches and administers to them for a season, establishes his Church, and calls twelve disciples to carry on his Church. Upon leaving there is some dispute among them as to what this Church should be named. Then in 3 Nephi chapter 27, Christ returns and makes it clear that the Church must be called in his name:

8. And how be it my church
save it be called in my name? For if a church be called in Moses’ name
then it be Moses’ church; or if it be called in the name of a man then
it be the church of a man; but if it be called in my name then it is my
church, if it so be that they are built upon my gospel.

Throughout time, God has always called prophets to establish his Church, and these Churches have all been known by the name of Christ. Today obedient to revelation from Christ himself we are also known by the name of Christ. Found in the Doctrine and Covenants Section 115:4, Christ states: "For thus shall my church be called in the last days, even The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints." I know that God has once again established his Church on the earth today, and that any honest seeker of this truth can read from the Book of Mormon, and pray to know if both it and this Church are true. I know that Christ lives and that he leads and directs his Church through a prophet today, whose name is Thomas S. Monson.
As you log into WoW after a fresh new patch, you are greeted with an updated terms of service (ToS) for World of Warcraft. Most likely you'll just scroll to the end without reading one bit of it, but I'd venture to say that there are some pretty important things in there. Terms of service outline expectations on the part of both the user and service provider. So in a sense Blizzard says "If you don't break these the rules you'll be able to play the game and use the service that we provide." Similarly the player says, "I'll keep these rules Blizz so I can pwn noobs in the face."
When we obey the commandments that we are given, blessings come. God is bound to give them the same as Blizzard is bound to provide service to players that keep the terms that they have set. I know that God loves us, and we show our love for him by keeping the commandments that he has given us (John 14:15). By keeping God's commandments we can receive blessings and greater joy in our lives. Well hello again my friends, it sure has been a while since I last wrote a blog, if it wasn't for my friend Elder Cabral I think the last post that I did would not have been posted on time. Today I want to talk to you about probably one of the hardest things for me personally in World Of Warcraft and that is leveling. Now Leveling is not as hard as it once was, in fact they made it really easy for someone who is new to the game to level up to 85 way faster then before, but it still doesn't change the fact that I hate leveling. Now what does leveling mean? Well I am going to give you my own definition on what I believe leveling is. Leveling in WoW: When leveling in WoW a player does quest, dungeons and battlegrounds to gain Experience points (XP) to gain a level (LVL). When we level in WoW we gain one level at a time, which brings us one step closer until we reach out ultimate goal of 85.

Now when it comes to relating the Gospel of Jesus Christ to this post I chose to do it on something which I think everyone can relate to, and that topic is growth. Just as we level in World Of Warcraft we level up in real life. "Just how do we level up Theo?" you might be asking yourself, well let me share with you how we level up in real life...
The way we level up in real life is by doing the things that Jesus Christ has told us to do, in a more plain term, keeping the commandments that was given to us. For example, when we read our scriptures and continue to read them daily, we gain xp until eventually we begin to grow in knowledge. When we go to church every sunday we gain xp until we begin to feel the spirit more in our lives, and when we help other people out as Christ taught we gain xp until we learn compassion and love one towards another etc... so my friends in reality we level up every single day, and then we will eventually come to our ultimate goal lvl 85!
As some of you know, my first character in WoW was a warrior.

So in the Book of Mormon, there are these chapters that are commonly referred to as the war chapters (read another blog about the war chapters). Within them two groups of people, the Nephites (good guys), and the Lamanites (bad guys) are duking it out. In this long drawn out war, the Lamanites are fighting for power and to conquer the Nephites, whereas the Nephites are mainly fighting to protect their lives, families, and freedoms. Within one of the first battles of this war, the Nephites are pretty much owning it up, then as they surround their enemies they start to fight with much fierceness and anger. Seeing this, the Nephite commander Moroni rallys his soldiers and inspires them with thoughts of what their fighting for (v.48). Then in Alma 43:49-50 the story continues:

A while back I bought this daily World of Warcraft calendar. Its pretty sweet! besides the basic things you would expect on a calendar, this boasts a daily "lore" question dealing with the back story of the game. Each day I try to guess at the answer, and more often than not I will get the answer wrong. I'm just not that big of a lore guy!

So this calendar really got me thinking. I have no clue as to "Who is Garona's uncle?", but I might be able to figure out my lore and back story in real life. It would probably be a whole lot easier figuring out who I am related to than finding a fictional space goat's uncle.
"Well Elder Cabral, could you give us some pro tips to find people in our family?"

Of course I could!

How do I start my Family History?

For starters you might want to print out a pedigree chart, or you could request one (for free of course) with all the rest of the pro-tips I'll give you written on the back. Once you have something to write your lore on you can follow these four simple steps.

1. Write down what you already know about your family.

Start with yourself, and write down all the lore that you already know.

2. Review what is missing.

If you're not a Loremaster IRL you will probably be missing something. You'll probably want to think about what would be most important for you to find next.

3. Find out which information already exists.

Gather Your Records- Got some death/ birth/ marriage certificates? Maybe a family Bible or a pedigree chart your Mom helped you make back in the first grade? Gather and organize it.

Talk To Your Family- Old people (at least the ones your related to) have a bunch of stories, and they probably wouldn't mind you visiting. Ask them who their mama is and who their daddy worked for (if you need or are interested in that). Record what they have to say, and see if they have additional records. You might be interested in obtaining copies or snatching them up when the loot drops.

Search Other Sources- If your reading this you probably have the internet. Go to www.familysearch.org (it's free, don't worry) and search for MOAR INFOS! Or you could look up a family history center near you and get help from RL Loremasters (I'd recommend it).

4. Share what you have and decide what you want to do next.

Make more copies of what you have and share it with your family. This will be a safeguard if you were to lose anything, or if your dog decides to eat your lore. Not to mention all these noob family members of yours might take interest and help you in your search.

So now that you know what to do you can start researching your lore. Stay tuned for Know Your Lore (Part 2) and learn a bit why family history and genealogy work are important.

Before Cataclysm launched, paladins had a very unique ability called divine intervention. The ability allowed a player to sacrifice his life to place another in a protective bubble which lasted a couple three minutes. Why would this be important? Divine intervention coincided with the shaman "ankh", and provided a way for a raid to forgo the long run back to a boss while raiding. By one player sacrificing his life, the rest of the raid would be able to be in turn resurrected, just as long as the person "DI'ed" was able to rez.

Christ Laid Down His Life

The WoW ability divine intervention reminds me of our Savior Jesus Christ. In the Gospel of John 15:13 Christ says: "Greater alove hath no man than this, that a man lay

Just as the ability Divine Intervention is a selfless laying down of ones life, Christ similarly laid down his life for us. But why did he do it? Throughout this blog, Theodore (formerly Elder) Butler and I have frequently mentioned Christ and the Atonement that he performed for us. One important thing that the Atonement does is to help us overcome spiritual and physical death. By Christ giving up his life on the cross and being resurrected on the third day, we will all be able to be resurrected. Being resurrected means that we will all be able to receive an immortal, glorified body of flesh and bones because of what Christ has done for us.

WoW Race Change

In World of Warcraft there are a bunch of wonderful services which any player can take advantage of fully. Some of these services include character transfers, name changes, race changes, faction change, character customization, etc..... You might be wondering why a player would like these changes and what makes them so great? Well my friends I want to share with you one reason why I love it a lot. Lets say you are a level (lvl) 85 Holy Paladin and you are PvPing (Player Vs Player) and you are one day tired of losing all the time to the Horde, wouldn't it be nice to change your faction and your race because of the mistake you made in picking the wrong faction? Because of these special services that Blizzard provides many players can make the changes that they need to or more importantly want to make.

Now what if I told you there was service that made it so WE (we meaning mankind or people) could repent of our sins and be forgiven, making it so we changed our old ways and made a new us, how would that make you feel? This change that I am referring to is the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
The atonement that Christ fulfilled was done in three separate parts:

1) The Garden or Garden of Gethsemane: In the "Garden" Christ knelt in humble prayer to our Father in Heaven, and as he prayed it became so intense that he began to bleed from every pore of his body, by praying and pleading for us He made it possible for us to repent, so that way we would not have to endure the pain that He went through.

2) The Crucifixion: After the Garden the Savior (Jesus Christ) was taken before the chief priest and Pilate, and when He was taken he was spat upon, mocked, and eventually whipped and crucified... By performing this second step the Savior made it possible for us in replacing justice for the sins that we would have commited in replace of mercy. As an example of justice and mercy, if I broke my moms favorite china dish and did nothing to make amends for it chances are she would be very angry and disappointed at me and would give me punishment. Now suppose that I had broke this dish and then did everything that I possibly could to fix it and make the situation right, how do you think my mother would feel? Chances are knowing my mother she would forgive me and tell me not to break another dish and would show mercy to me. (Hope the example helped.)

3) The Ressurrection of the Savior: If the Savior had not been resurrected then there would have been no life after death. Because Jesus Christ was resurrected He made it possible for everyone to return to live with our Father in Heaven, for this purpose the atonement had to be done.

Ok! So what does this have to do with services in WoW? Well if you remember at the beginning of this blog I told you that these services were provided for us to be able to change the mistakes we made right? Well with the service of the atonement of Jesus Christ we are allowed make the changes that we want to and need to in our lives in order to be happy... it is only in and through the Savior that one can become a happier and nicer person as compared to one who never repents and is always miserable like unto the Devil.

My friends, I hope that all of us come to realize the importance of the Savior Jesus Christ and more importantly the importance of the atonement that He made. I hope we don't forget to take advantage of the great service that was provided!
Back in the day when I dinged level 70 I desperately needed some gold to buy an epic flying mount. The only problem was that I needed around 5,00 gold (which was a lot back then) to go and get one. You're probably asking yourself "why would anyone drop 5,000 hard owned gold just for a mount that flew?" For one it was super fast, and Outland was a big place.

"The Isle of QD"

The solution to my problem rested on a small island named Quel'Danas. There I could do repeatable "daily" quests to gain gold. After a while I would eventually gain enough gold to get the epic flying mount that I wanted. However, with the goal in mind, more problems came up!
For one, doing quests is work! It's a lot easier to be lazy then to go out and quest. Then there was the PvP (player versus player) aspect of the isle. With parties from both factions trying to do dailies, I could easily get distracted and gank people, or be ganked.

Most people in life have the goal of going to Heaven. Part of what we need to do to get there is to keep the commandments and endure to the end. But how can we do that with all the opposition in the world? The solution is doing our real life dailes... praying and studying the scriptures. Think about it, how much closer would you feel to our Heavenly Father on days when you read and pray compared to days when you don't? The comparison is night and day. As we daily feast upon the words of Christ and commune with our Father in Heaven we are given strength to get through the day and reach our eternal goals. In Alma 37:6 a Book of Mormon prophet gives this guidance to his son:

"Now ye may suppose that this is afoolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, that by bsmall and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise."

Many great things are brought to pass by smaller things. It is the same with reading and scripture study. Just as it took a great deal of time, patience, and work to get epic flying back in the Burning Crusade days, it takes the small and simple acts of reading and scripture study to get to our ultimate goal of living again with our Father in Heaven. I know that as we overcome the things that keep us from doing these things, we will be blessed by being closer to our Father in Heaven.
Today I chose to talk about something that is or can be hard for a lot of people, which is loving our neighbors as yourself. The question that I have always asked is who are my neighbors? Is it the person next door to me? or is it the guy across the street? Well let me share with you somethings that I think will shed some light on this subject. Loving our neighbors isn't just being kind to the person next door to us or even across the street, it means to love everyone as ourselves. In John 13:34-35 , Christ says:

You might be thinking, that is great and all but how does that show that we need to love our neighbor as ourselves?
My friends look closely in verse thirty four... see the word ONE ANOTHER? simply stated we are to love one another or other people, and by doing this the savior says what? "That YE are MY DISCIPLES" My friends I am not telling you to give a drug attic money so he can fund his habits, or let a stranger into your home, what I am saying is show love to one another and use the brain that we were given. Now I would like to quickly share with you a story in WoW that might relate to this post.

One day I was playing on my paladin, when a lvl 10 noob came up to me asking me for some money. I told the young player that I did not have much, but I would gladly give him some gold... I ended up giving him 20 gold that day. This player thanked me a bunch throughout the day and all I could do was chuckle because It made me happy to know that I had showed him what the true meaning of what loving a fellow player really means.

My friends let us all do our best to be kind and loving to each other, and the next time we want to call someone a name or hurt somebodies feelings, lets stop and think whether or not we are showing our love to our neighbor.

So in the World of Warcraft there's a raid instance called Karazhan that I really enjoy. Karazhan was the entry level-raid for level 70 characters, so I found myself in 'Kara' pugs quite a bit back in the days of the Burning Crusade. Its a pretty sweet place to be, cause its basically a huge castle with a bunch of ghosts in it that drop loot.

This one time in Kara, we were progressing through pretty well, and even got to the second half of the instance. I noticed that one of the other players we were running with had this new buff (buffs are spells that make your character stronger) that I had never seen before, so I proceeded to ask him what it was. Unbeknownst to me it turns out that throughout the instance there are books that you can actually pick up and read. Upon reading them your character gets a buff, and there are different books for different class roles like tanks, healers, and dps.

The books in Karazhan remind me of the effect the scriptures have in our lives. The scriptures are holy books that God has given to us through a prophet. Let me ask you a question... If God were here on earth, would you care to hear what he has to say to you?

If you have any amount of curiosity you probably would. One way that God, our Heavenly Father, speaks to us is through the scriptures. By not reading them we are not letting our Heavenly Father speak to us.

Throughout time God has continually commanded us to study the scriptures. In John 5:39 Christ said "39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which btestify of me." I know that great blessings have come to me from reading the scriptures. I know that they can help us all get closer to our Heavenly Father. They truly show us the way back to him. Much like the Karazhan books they help us get through tough times with the buffs they give us!
In World of Warcraft you can play on a server that is called RP which stands for "Role Play." Well I play on a RP server and I will admit that it can get pretty weird sometimes. Well one day I was walking by a couple of people Role playing and there was a line that has stuck with me, this person said. "Who am I?" My friends I have a question to ask you. Who are you? I am not talking about your name or where your from, but I mean Who are you really? I know that when I first saw that I kinda thought it was cheesy, but I want to share with you, who you really are. In Romans chapter 8:16-17 the Apostle Paul really explains who we are.
I think this is a genius idea! First off you get to start playing an awesome game with someone you actually like, and not only that, but you're progressing so much faster than if you started on your own. At the same time, you or your friend are not really losing anything. The trial account is free, and there's not really any risk or things to buy until he's found out that he'd actually like to play the game. You on the other hand get to play with someone that you know in real life, share something that you enjoy with them, and maybe even get a sweet mount in the process.
Blizzard can get many people to try the game out through advertising, but by being introduced by a friend their experience is a lot more enjoyable, and they are more likely to stay playing the game. Similarly, when members do missionary work with their friends they have much more enjoyable experiences. They are able to share something that brings them joy, and fulfillment with someone that they care for. The people are then a lot more likely to stay in the Church because they have a friend. They can explain new things and help them through the rough times. Going a step further, think about the network that Blizzard has compared to the people that actually play. Blizzard has about 5,00 emplyees, but 11.4 million subscibers with millions of friends equal out to a huge network. The church similarly "employs" 52,225 missionaries, but also has over fourteen million members with millions of friends that they can share the gospel with. Just imagine how much work we can all do!
WE all go through struggles that we sometimes wish we did not have to face, for example: Somebody comes up to you and starts calling you all kinds of names which you really had no idea why, or maybe somebody was being ignorant and did somethings to you. In these times of trials some people would be mad and "Smite" (or in other words retaliate back with something worse.) while other people will harbor anger and hatred for a long time while other people would do as Christ taught them and that is to turn the other cheek. The scripture that I am referring to is Matthew 5:38-39 the Sermon on the Mount.

38 "¶Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also."

These people are basically noobs (I mean come on its been this long into the expansion and you're not even 85!), but he knows they are humble, and devoted, and that he can mold them into the officer core that he needs. Time goes on, and the guild starts to progress. All the officer core has been trained in the ways of raiding from a pro GM, they have a solid guild, and its time to recruit. Many people are unsure about the guild. The officers get questions like,"Aren't you that one guy that was spamming trade asking where your class trainer is?" or "Weren't you the noob I qued into a heroic with in greens and pvp gear?" But the guild has a way for everyone to resolve their concerns. It is to try it out. See for yourself if it works. And then if you're good enough, and can make the commitment, you can join up.

As mentioned in the previous part to this blog (Epic Guild (Part 1) --The Apostasy), Christ's Church fell into a state of apostasy after Christ's apostles died...
As time progressed, this caused many churches to be built up from the things that Christ had taught. Although these people had good intentions, they were not able to have the fullness of Christ's doctrine, nor did they have the authority or organization that Christ's church originally possessed. Many people in this period (known as the Great Apostasy) were confused. A scripture in Amos 8:11-12, and numerous other scriptures predict this happening after Christ had come:
In answer to his prayers, Joseph Smith was able to receive a vision of both the Father and the Son. I know that his account is true. He was able to ask which of all these churches were true, and his answer was that none of the churches on earth were true, but that through him, Christ would again restore his Church preparatory to his Second Coming. That Church today, with Christ as its Chief Cornerstone, and a foundation of Prophets and Apostles is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Imagine for a second that you're in an epic raiding guild. You have the best guild leader, and class officers. No one stands in fire, or goes AFK randomly. Healing and tanking are spot on, and the dps literally nuke bosses. You've cleared all content, and of course have downed heroic Ragnaros. Besides all that your guild also gets along. There's no loot drama, and players take advice without emo-raging.

Precarious Situation is Precarious

Then slowly the epic guild loses its leetness. For starters your guild master decides to leave WoW for a bit, due to drama on the server and massive amounts of hate on the forums. He of course leaves the guild in the hands of the competent officers that he's carefully selected. Thats fair enough. He also still pops in from time to time to see how everything is going, but slowly things start to go downhill.
With peple hating on the GM do you think that the officers would be free from hate too?
This would be very similar to a GM having a officer core to rely on when he is not there. When Christ left the earth he also left the church that he had organized up to the Apostles. Although he left it in good hands, these men were also persecuted and many were killed. This left men lacking in Authority (note in verse 1 that Christ gave the Apostles power -- the priesthood), to run the church. It would be very similar to noobs trying to run a top-tier raiding guild. It just couldn't happen! The Church that Christ had set up had entered into a state of Apostasy. As I said in my (Thank you for the support!), Today I want to share with you the stats on how we are doing and relate that to why its been great to see you read. When Elder Cabral and I started this blog we had no idea that it was going to take off really fast. This was when Elder Cabral posted some stats on network blogs in (WoW Are You Doing?) as you can see we were hitting some high numbers for two elders starting a blog in the middle of the month. It is because of you we have been able to achieve our goal, and we hope that you will continue to read this blog and learn something new. Just as you have learned by reading our WoW blog, you too can learn even more from the scriptures themselves. Every six weeks as a missionary, we have the opportunity to transfer from the area in which we serve. I love transfers and being able to travel through the state, and seeing all the other missionaries serving in their respected areas. Yesterday I got on a members van to travel from Missoula to Laurel, Montana and on the way we encountered a wild Elder Theodore Butler and his companion Elder Freeman. Lols ensued.
So we met up at this restaurant named The Hanging 5 or something like that in Butte, Montana (yes, there actually is a town named Butte) to have breakfast. We all ordered, and Elder Butler got some French toast with a fruit and whipped cream topping. (This is important-- listen up) The order came, and soon the French toast's topping was half on the table and a quarter on Elder Butler's pants and a quarter on the floor. I was sitting next to Elder Butler, so I of course absorbed some of the AoE French toast's damage. Those unfamiliar to WoW might want to note that AoE means Area of Effect. Although most of the RL (real life) French toast AoE hit the floor and table's edge, both Elder Butler and I received some damage to our pants...

In the past I wrote a blog entitled "Horrible Haircuts and Agency", and today I wanted to talk a little more about the gift of agency that we have been given. Simply, agency is the ability that we have in life to choose. For example, when I wake up in the morning, I can chose to eat some cereal, or maybe some eggs, or I can even go without breakfast. There are even bigger decisions that we need to make in life, like whether or not we will follow our Savior Jesus Christ, or whether we will follow that other dude. 2 Nephi 2:27 puts it this way:

In our world today, a lot of people choose not to follow Christ. They have been blessed with the ability to choose not to. One thing that they may not realize though, is they cannot chose the consequences, and these consequences may hurt those around them. I'm sure you heard the phrase before "I'm only hurting myself". For the most part that is not true. There are people around you that will be affected by your decision. Go back to the AoE French toast. Elder Butler chose to get whipped cream and two varieties of fruit, then precariously perch it on the edge of the table. The whipped cream and fruit then spilled on his pants, which caused him to take some negligible damage, and Elder Cabral in turn was hit by some AoE on his pants as well. Then waitresses came by and acted as healers and helped us clean up and 'healed us back to full'. So Elder Butlers decision didn't only affect himself, but it also affected those around him.

We last left off with spirit world, talking about paradise and prison. What I want to talk about now with you is what happens after spirit world. But first I want to share with you an experience I had in World of Warcraft. When I was playing World of Warcraft I really wanted to join this raid guild super bad, so in order for me to join this guild I had to go through one raid run to see if I had what it took to be a healer for this raiding guild. So I grabbed some Cheetos and some water and bunkered down what I knew was going to be an intense night. As we started the raid things went very well with the first two bosses, healing away with no problem and then BOOM! this massive AOE came and hit us really hard. They called for all healers to heal the tanks and dps asap. As I did I threw out some flash heals and some holy lights and I was able to heal a good size of the raid group. Well after we downed the majority of the bosses we decided to call it a night. Then the next day came and I was judged according to the performance I gave the night before and they said that I did a great job and that they could use me more. (Granted they said I needed to get a bit more better gear, but they said they would help me with that.) and because of that I was invited to join the Redrum Inc...

Once the second coming happens, and the world is cleansed, everyone that has ever died will be resurrected. The word resurrected means to raise from the dead. As we can see Alma says that the body and the soul will be brought back together and be made perfect. Once we are resurrected we then have to go and be judged, what are we judged on? Once we are resurrected and receive a perfect body we are then judged according to our works. If we are always looking to do evil we will be rewarded for evil and if we continually do good, we will be rewarded for good. My friends being resurrected and judged are very real, I know this because I have read it all throughout the scriptures and have prayed about it. Anyone can determine that communication is a big thing in the world today, especially with the internet. It allows many people to come together, build communities, and share facts and opinions. As a hardcore WoW player, one of my favorite pastimes was reading what other players had to say and discuss. This lead me to YouTube videos, popular WoW websites, and of course the forums. With all these sources I could see how other players played their class and how I could in turn improve my game play.
Out of all that I would read, probably the most interesting (besides players trolling the BDF forums) would have to be blue posts. You see when a WoW game developer or Blizz employee posts, the script of their post is blue. \a lot of these blue posts would deal with new patch notes, additional content, and occasional responses to questions posted by players. They were all really interesting to me because they spoke of things to shortly come to pass in the game's world.

So if there were people on the earth today (IRL), that could tell us of things to come, and and how we can prepare for these things, do you think that you would be interested in listening to them?...I sure would!
We know throughout time, God has always called men (like Noah, Abraham, and Moses) to be prophets. Prophets are men called of God and given authority to preach the true gospel of Jesus Christ, and speak as his mouthpiece. Just in the same sense that I myself cannot log onto the WoW forums and start writing blue posts, not all people can be entitled to speak for God and receive revelation (communication from God) for the whole world. It is requisite that these men receive authority from God. I know that God today has once again reached out in love to his children and called a prophet. His name is Thomas S. Monson. Along with a prophet sent to prepare the world for Christ's Second Coming, God has also called Apostles to assist him -- just as he did in Christ's time.
I recognize that what I have just said is a lot to bear, and you don't have to take my word for it. You can instead take the challenge to find out for yourself if the things that I have said are true. Consider the evidence of additional scripture in our day (The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ) And the words of modern-day Prophets and Apostles. Take and ponder these things, then pray and ask God if these things are true. I know that if you ask with a sincere heart, real intent, and having faith in Jesus Christ you will find your answer. I myself have come to know of these things through the same process. I know that God loves us enough to call Prophets and Apostles in our day. The heavens are open and God speaks! Christ lives, and his authority is found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!
The question, "Where do I go when I die?" I have had that question asked to me a lot so today I am hopefully going to answer some of those questions for you. So we talked about in our previous post (Purpose to Life (Part1) What's my purpose in life? ) What we are supposed to be doing while we are alive. What I want to do is share with you a quick WoW story with you. When I was in a BG (Battleground) You tend to get hurt a lot in battle to the point to where you will die, now when we die in WoW we go to what is called the spirit healer, which you just kinda wait in the Graveyard until the time is up for you to get resurrected. Just like in WoW all of us have to die, there is no way around it, but death is not the end! Let me share with you some more scriptures. In 1 Peter 3:18-20, Peter talks about what happened to Christ after he died...
Well let me share with you some scripture from the Book of Mormon, which is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. Alma 40:12 12 And then shall it come to pass, that the spirits of those who are righteous are received into a state of happiness, which is called paradise, a state of rest, a state of peace, where they shall rest from all their troubles and from all care, and sorrow. These two places Paradise and Prison are in what is known as the spirit world. As we can see Paradise is a place where those who were good people in this life will go and rest from the cares of the world, while in prison those who were bad, or never had the chance to hear the gospel at all will now be able to learn of Jesus Christ and of His teachings in its fullness. It is truly amazing to know that the Lord loves everyone so much that he has given people on the other side to accept His gospel.

Elder Theodore Butlerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13998649450755060647noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4163458157673807693.post-64342607868939051152011-07-06T14:49:00.003-06:002011-10-15T11:25:05.215-06:00Another Roflstomp: One Shotting Rogue

Any gamer reading this has been one shotted before... simply, being one shotted means that you just died in one one hit, or extremely quickly. Any Halo player has probably experienced the one shotting capabilities of a sniper head shot, spartan laser, or well-placed rocket. Similarly, if you've ever player Team Fortress 2, you may have been one shotted by a spy's backstab, soldiers critrocket, or walking into an intelligence room packed with level three sentries!

WoW players also experience the thrill of being one shotted. One day (back in my noobier days) I was peacefully strolling through the Barrens... then BAM!!! Out of nowhere I was ganked, roflstomped and successively tea bagged by Alliance scum! Fast-forwarding to 70...
I remember Patch 3.01, the last patch of Burning Crusade before the Lich King. During this patch the outcome of BGs was determined by how many Paladins where on your faction's side. At the time I didn't know that accepting a duel with a ret paladin friend of mine would also be equivalent to volunteering to be a punching bag, but after the wings were popped and a divine storm there I was pleading for mercy.

Some time ago, I wrote a blog entitled "The Definition of a Roflstomp: 850 HKs In One Day", wherein I wrote about Elijah the prophet roflstomping 850 wicked priests. I've felt the need recently to share another scriptural roflstomp, this time from the pages of The Book of Mormon. You see within the pages of the Book of Mormon there's this section that a lot of people refer to as "the war chapters". Two opposing groups, the Nephites (good guys) and the Lamanites (bad guys) are duking it out. The Lamanites hate and want to destroy all the Nephites whereas the Nephites are just fighting to defend their lives and freedoms.

One Shotting Rogue

Within this war you of course hear about some of the commanders on either side. One commander that I especially like is a Nephite named Teancum (weird name I know). Teancum plays a big part in the war that the Nephites are fighting...

In Alma 51: 34 Teancum slays the Lamanite King Amalikiah - "And it came to pass that Teancum stole privily into the tent of the king, and put a javelin to his heart; and he did cause the death of the king immediately that he did not awake his servants."

Then in chapter 62:36 Teancum does the same to the new king Ammoron.

36. And it came to pass that Teancum in his anger did go forth into the camp of the Lamanites, and did let himself down over the walls of the city. And he went forth with a cord, from place to place, insomuch that he did find the king; and he did acast a javelin at him, which did pierce him near the heart... and slew him.

Teancum and His Epic Javelin

Because Teancum assassinates two of the Lamanite kings single-handedly the long war comes to an end. If Teancum were to play a class in WoW he would definitely be a rogue, and with his one shotting skills he definitely is another example of a scriptural roflstomp!

What is the meaning to life? I am pretty sure that if you were to ask a lot of people, they would tell you it is to live and to die. Others might tell you its to be tried and tested and then go live with God and I am sure that other people would tell you that there is no purpose to life in general-- that we are just here for kicks and giggles. My friends if you want the true meaning to life, then pay close attention to the words that I am about to speak because they will tell you what life is all about. In the Book of Mormon there is a missionary by the name of Amulek, and this is what he says about life in Alma 34:32-33:
These scriptures are saying two things, 1) We need to prepare our self to meet God. 2)We need to perform good works and not wait to repent. One Book of Mormon missionary has told us what our purpose to life is. I know that there is a purpose to life, I know that God loves us so much that He wants us to return to live with Him again. I know that if we read the scriptures we will begin to know what God has in store for us, I also know that the purpose to life is to return to live with our Heavenly Father once again.
Elder Theodore Butlerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13998649450755060647noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4163458157673807693.post-79095971148779539272011-06-29T12:10:00.003-06:002011-10-15T11:32:33.230-06:00Our Quest Hub

Patch days very well might be the best days to play and not to play WoW. On one hand, you have a bunch of new content that you would like to experience. Maybe some new quest lines that end up in epic gear, new battlegrounds and pvp gear, or especially new raid instances (firelands) that your guild wants to get server first kills on. Then on the other hand you have the lag. Then more lag. Then the server crashes in the middle of your boss fights, or you get ganked at the new quest hubs, and so on and so forth.

You'll see a lot of these at quest hubs

I have quite a bit of experience with the lag, quest hubs, new raids and battlegrounds, but out of the aforementioned things, probably what I have most experience in and has caused the most grief to me are new quest hubs. For one thing, new quest hubs always have a bunch of Alliance there. Then, when you actually go out of the neutral zone, you have to deal with the possibility of being ganked while questing...
or jerk hunters and mages pulling a bunch of mobs and then feigning death or ice-blocking so you aggro and take repair. Not to mention noob paladins that bubble hearth.
Anyways enough ranting, and I'll get to the point. Even though there are many things that I don't like about quest hubs, I was thinking about it and found a bunch of to real life. One thing that really gets me excited in game is a new patch, likewise that comes along with all the new quest hubs, even though they are un-enjoyable at times. Then in real-life, church draws a real parallel to quest hubs. We gain quite a bit from going to church. We are able to take the sacrament and remember our Savior Jesus Christ. There might be times when we get bored or doze off, but overall the epic loot that comes from going to church is worth it. In a way, church is like our questing hub. It starts our week off right, and I always feel good when I go!
So you've just booted up your computer and fired up some WoW. You type in your username and password and login to the World... of Warcraft. Being the good Horde player that you are, you appear to have last been in the Horde capital city Ogrimmar, probably trading in all the honor points you've racked up from ganking all the Alliance (scum). As you journey on your trusted Kodo through Ogrimmar you notice all of your comrades and start inspecting their gear. You of course wear all epics. It would be shameful to walk around otherwise in blues and greens! All of a sudden a belf paladin Gladiator walks by, wearing the guild tag of the number one raiding guild on the server, and most likely the best 3v3 team on the battlegroup. After you get over the initial shock and doubtful thoughts such as "this guy has absoulutely no life" you start to appreciate the man and his BiS (best in slot) gear. He wears epics!
A short time ago I wrote a blog entitled "If Everyone Wore Nametags" about how we as missionaries wear name tags and represent the Savior Jesus Christ. If you've left your house sometime since 1830 you have probably seen Mormon missionaries walking around...
You can tell a missionary by the nametag and of course the white shirts, ties, and suits. I would like to think that we as missionaries wear epics. It may be a little intimidating at times if two young stripling lads walk up to talk to you, or knock on your door, but be calm (our pvp flags are not on, and we come in peace). We bear a remarkable message that will clarify and add to the truths that you already hold dear. It has personal relevance to you, and to your family. I know that it will bring joy to your family, and completeness. Consider the evidence that God has once again called a prophet in these days, and has given us the Book of Mormon to serve as Another Testament of Jesus Christ, and as a way for us to know of the truthfulness of this message.

Movement in WoW is a big thing! Imagine running away from a huge group of Alliance that is running towards you. Maybe your first instinct would be to use the s-key, which moves your character backwards. Or then again, a better answer might be to use the "a" or "d" keys to turn around, and then use the "w" key to run away. Both would work if you were trying to get away, but they are not the best answer!

So what is the best answer? How do we get away from enemy players or mobs that are trying to harm us without backpedaling slowly using the s-key? Or how can we turn faster than using the "a" or "d" keys? The answer is very simple!..
It is to use the mouse to turn. It is something so simple that it might even get overlooked! We know that the left mouse button in WoW is used quite a bit to click on objects on the screen (hopefully you're not clicking your abilities), but if the right mouse button is held down, and the mouse moved to the side, your character will turn! Then, after turning you can either run or strafe away!

Rise Above It!

A lot of times in life, I think that we suffer from picking a good answer, but probably not the best one. Mediocrity is generally well excepted in the world that we life in. This poses the question "Should we settle for mediocrity, or should we rise up and become better?" Think about it for a second. As a representative of Jesus Christ, I know that we are to rise up and emulate our Savior. In 3 Nephi 12:48, Christ exhorts us to "be perfect even as I, or your Father who is in heaven is perfect." Our life on earth is a time for us to learn and grow. It is a time for us to become more like our Savior Jesus Christ, and our Father in Heaven. In the hymn "Rise Up O Men of God" the hymn states "Rise up O men of God! Tread were his feet have trod! As Brothers of the Son of Man, Rise up, O men of God"

In closing, I would just like to echo the words of the hymn and rise up! Rise above mediocrity. Stop keyboard turning and s-keying in real life. Learn to play and continue to become a better player!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02908274528569642275noreply@blogger.com0Missoula, Mt, USA46.872146 -113.9939981999999646.7984215 -114.10231419999997 46.9458705 -113.88568219999996
